Get wild on Wednesdays

The Honolulu Zoo’s  popular summer concert series The Wildest Show in Town begins again tonight. Guests may enter the zoo at 4:35 (get there when gates open if you want to get a quick peek at the animals before the exhibits are closed for the evening. Concerst run from 6 to 7 p.m. and admission is $5 for those ages 2 and older. Bring your picnic dinner or purchase one on-site. The 10-week concert schedule is:

Zoo News

Earth Day coincides with the second Aloha Aina Conservation Fest at the Honolulu Zoo April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Environmental groups will be on hand to educate those in attendance about their efforts in the islands and beyond. There will also be informative talks with zoo keepers, keiki activities and a birthday event for Galapagos Tortoises at 1:30 p.m.!

Plant a forest

Help plant seedlings, harvest sweet potatoes, pull weeds and learn about native plants at the Honolulu Zoo’s Children’s Discovery Forest 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 17. After the volunteer work is done, participants can visit the zoo for free. Meet at Gate 6 (on Monsarrat Avenue) across from the Waikiki shell at 9 a.m. RSVP to lmduling@hawaii.edu.
