More lunar new year celebrations

Did you think you missed all the celebrations for the year of the pig? Central Oahu and East Oahu have two more chances to celebrate with a family-friendly event at 5 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Town Center of Mililani and 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at Hawaii Kai Towne Center.

The Mililani event will feature the Asian Lion Dance Team, appearances by Miss Chinatown Hawaii and Miss Chinese Jaycees Court members and a coloring activity for keiki. (https://www.facebook.com/TownCtrMililani/)

Celebrate Chinese New Year

Sure you could head to Chinatown, but you can also head to Waipahu to celebrate with Hawaii’s Plantation Village New Years Festival. Mark the year of the boar 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2.

Chinese New Year craft

Make a Chinese drum at Ben Franklin’s Keiki Saturdays craft 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 2. Cost is $4. Info: benfranklinhawaii.com/events.

Piggie power

Patient kids can embrace their love of the cute at the Art Explorium’s Chinese New Year Felted Pigs and Boars workshop 2:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 26. Details at https://artexplorium.org/events/event/

Puppy power

The Hawai’i State Foundation of Culture and the Arts has a free art event each month at the Hawai’i State Art Museum. This month kids (and adults) can get an intro course in painting from the Hawai’i Watercolor Society 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 10. Dog days
